Introducing our Bounding Box Endpoint

Since the launch of Scale this summer, we have helped several companies and developers augment their software applications with humans. In fact, we have seen Scale completely remove the need for companies to run their own operations teams, and this is just the beginning.
 
Over the past few weeks, we have heard many requests for tools to help developers interact with their images. Understanding images is one thing that humans are undeniably better at than machines, and we want to empower developers with that human advantage. 
 
As a first step today, we are announcing our bounding box endpoint, formally called our annotation endpoint.

Getting started is simple. We’ve open sourced our demo app for an easy start, which you can check out on Github here. You can sign up for an API key and start running it in minutes.

How It Works

The API is extremely simple to use (see our documentation). Here are just a few things you can do with our API:

• Tagging Images for E-Commerce: Tagging listing photos can transform search and discovery, improving clickthrough rates.
• Facial Recognition: Our Scalers can recognize faces in any given image. This capability can be used to empower a new feature or build a great new app.
• Train Image Recognition ML Algorithms: Behind every great convolutional neural network (CNN) is a mountain of labeled training data. Our highly-screened Scalers can build datasets for any image recognition problem, whether you are detecting boats or recognizing kittens.
• Detect Copyright Information: Our scalers will detect copyright logo violations and return the location of the logo on the image.
• Image Cropping: Build smart cropping technology powered by real humans. Scale can identify landmarks, text, or just about anything else in images for automated cropping applications.
• Industry Image Feature Detection: Detect features like buildings, cars, and more in a variety of images. This includes satellite imagery, self-driving car and drone images, street-level photos, and much more.
